NORTH COAST TRANSMISSION LINE

Time Line and Key Dates

***

Brief over view of project, whats been done, and where we are**The proposed North Coast Transmission Line project being advanced through a partnership between K’uul Power, several First Nations (including Wet’suwet’en Hereditary and Elected leadership), the Province of British Columbia, and BC Hydro. The project involves building new transmission infrastructure to deliver clean electricity across the North Coast, supporting future industry, community growth, and a lower-carbon economy. Early agreements (non-binding term sheets) outline a collaborative approach where First Nations are directly involved in planning, decision-making, and environmental stewardship, bringing both traditional knowledge and community priorities into the project.

If finalized, the project could include significant economic opportunities for participating Nations, such as revenue sharing, equity ownership of up to 50% of the line, and hundreds of millions of dollars in contracting, training, and employment opportunities for First Nations businesses and members. While discussions are ongoing and no final decisions have been made, the project represents a shift toward co-ownership and partnership in major infrastructure development. Community input remains important as Nations review the agreement and consider how the project aligns with local values, priorities, and long-term benefits.
